| The townships that comprise a
"ring" around York City are the most populated and
include Springettsbury Township, York Township, Spring Garden
Township, Manchester Township, and West Manchester Township.
These communities all draw a heavy influence from York
City, and
many residents work in and around York. It is in these townships
that you will find the greatest number of businesses and retail
outlets. York International Corp., a Fortune 500 company,
is headquartered in Spring Garden Township, and
internationally-renown Harley-Davidson Motor Company maintains a
sprawling complex in Springettsbury Township. The York Galleria
Mall and West Manchester Mall are regional malls, and shopping
centers and specialty stores are located throughout Greater
York.
The Greater York area is also home to a number of
post-secondary educational institutions, including York College
of Pennsylvania, Penn State York, Bradley Academy for the Visual
Arts, and York Technical Institute. It is also here that you
will find diverse housing options, from low-to-moderate income
housing to wooded middle class suburban neighborhoods to upscale
neighborhoods with million-dollar views.
