| Whereas
the Colonial
Revival Style is typically viewed to encompass the
English-inspired Georgian and Federal
Styles, Dutch Colonial Revival is based upon early Dutch
Colonial, in turn based upon the styles of the
Netherlands. Characteristics include stepped dormers,
wide overhanging eaves
above porch, gambrel roof,
and end chimneys. In York, the stepped dormers were very
popular, as was brick of a golden color. There are several
examples east of Continental Square.
